A Magical Disney World Seniors Trip

Nancy and I went during Thanksgiving week for what we hoped would be a magical Walt Disney World seniors trip. Last year, we tried a similar trip. Yet, upon arival in Orlando 2 days before entering the Disney World bubble, Nancy fractured her shoulder. We continued on with our Thanksgiving week vacation at Walt Disney World last year, but of course it was much, much more subduded than we had planned.

This year, we went for a 10 day redo. We were hoping for a Walt Disney World seniors trip during Thanksgiving week that would be magical.

Spoiler alert: It was indeed magical in more ways than we could have imagined. It was filled with many great, and a couple not so great, surprises. Yes, it was magical, the type of Disney magic that a guest of any age hopes for.

This article will summarize our experiences for each of our 10 day Disney adventure; some days were shorter than others. It is written by us, seniors, from a senior’s perspective for Disney luvin’ seniors.

Yet, if you are a senior or are planning a vacation to Walt Disney World with a senior, we hope our experiences will help you in planning your Walt Disney World seniors trip.

Day 1 – Arrival at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Our flight arrived on time at the Orlando International Airport (MCO). With the two of us we decided to take a LYFT to our first (of three) Disney resorts. Everyone has their own perferred way to travel from the aiport to Walt Disney World. For our Disney World seniors trip, the LYFT cost $44 with a wait of only 5 minutes mid-afternoon on a Friday. Nice convenient way to start our magical Walt Disney World seniors trip.

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

It was our first time staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. It is beautiful as these pictures can attest. We stayed in the Gran Destino Tower at this Walt Disney World Moderate Resort. We agree with those who say that the tower area feels just like a Disney Deluxe resort!

Our room was on the 8th floor and looked out onto Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the distance and over on the left a peak-a-boo view of Disney’s EPCOT.

We will do a full room tour video for our Nancy and Dan Travel To Disney YouTube travel channel for older adults and seniors shortly.

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

For dinner we had arranged to eat at one of the restaurants at Disney’s Corononado Springs Resort, the Maya Grill. It has a Latin American theme and menu. Nancy and I arranged to meet the two Moderators of the Disney for Seniors Facebook Group, Gillian and Chuck, together with their spouses Simon and Karen, respectively.

We all had a fabulous time. We highly recommend the Maya Grill for a reasonably priced table service restaurant and won’t hesitate to go there again. Meeting Gillianand Chuck helped to kickstart our Walt Disney World seniors trip.
