Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World we find is the most misunderstoon of all Disney Resorts.
Nancy and I stayed at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort for the very first time recently. This begant our annual Thanksgiving Week vacation in 2024. What we learned about this resort surprised us.

It is seemly all by itself, not close to anything. Guests have to take the Disney transportation buses, or their own car, or a ride share, to get to anywhere. This includes theme parks and other attractions within Walt Disney World from this Disney resort.
If you want to go straight to the room tour video, here it is for you:
Yet, it is close to two different theme parks that you can see in the distance. It is also surprisingly wonderful mini golf location (that for us was within walking distance from the resort). The picture below was taken from our room on the 8th floor in the Gran Destino Tower. Yes, of course, that is The Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the short distance. Over to the left just out of the picture is EPCOT. So, the bus ride using Disney’s bus transportation is not that far at all to these two theme parks.

And yes, Nancy and I had a sprisingly fun time at the miniature golf location. Disney’s Winter Summerland minature golf was within a 15 minute walk from Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. When our review is complete for that activity, we will return and put a link right here for you.

Is Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort a Moderate or Deluxe Disney Resort?
Another reason why Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is misunderstood is its categorization by Disney.
At Walt Disney World, there are four categories for Disney resorts as you likely well know:
- Value
- Moderate
- Deluxe
- Deluxe Villas

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is classified as a Moderate resort. This we believe is because the rooms that are not at the Gran Destino Tower where Nancy and I stayed have exterior hallways to access them.
Yet, as we will share with you in a future (not too distant future) video review, the Grand Destino Tower certainly looks and feels like a Deluxe resort. So does the room we were assigned on the 8th floor.
