Have you every wondered what it is like to walk to Disney’s Magic Kingdom from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to Magic Kingdom? It has been open for several years now. Yet when Nancy and I are in the area we rarely see many people taking advantage of this transportation option.
It is longer for sure than the walk from Disney’s Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower.
So, we thought in this brief article, we would include for you two POV type views from our Disney related travel YouTube channel for older adults and seniors.
The Walk to Disney’s Magic Kingdom From Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
This first video for you shows you the actual experience of walking the entire route. We start just outside Gasparilla Island Grill to in front of the security lines at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
The Gasparilla Island Grill is the quick service restaurant approximately in the middle of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
With your back to this restaurant, this would be your view as you start your walk. And, yes, if you look closely right in the middle of the picture, you can see the top of Cinderella’s Castle!
According to Google Maps, the walk should take about 16 minutes and is less 8 tenths of a mile long. Google Maps used as the end point a spot actually inside Disney’s Magic Kingdom, passed the scecurity checkpoints and ticket entrance areas, underneath the railway station and in front of the parklet area at the start of Main Street USA.
For the record, I have a naturally fast walking gate so it took me 11 minutes to walk to Disney’s Magic Kinddom.
As you will see the journey is relatively flat.
You will see beautiful views of the 7 Seas Lagoon during your stroll. This includes the buildings of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This also includes Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort including the new tower.
If you start your walk to Disney’s Magic Kingdom early in the morning at sunrise, you can encounter beautiful sun rises such as the one below that Nancy also took. Yes, that is Dinsey’s Contemporary Resort main building on the right and Disney’s Bay Lake Tower building on the left in the distance.
Every few minutes on your journal you will encounter Disney’s Monorail above you. The monorail is so iconic for Walt Disney World and Disneyland resorts.
The walkway opens about 1 hour before park opening. It closes about 1 hour after Disney’s Magic Kingdom has closed for the night.
I will add that if you take this route between Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Grand Foridian Resort & Spa on a chilly evening, it can be very cold. Nancy and I encountered this one time. I was so glad to make it inside the first buidling we could enter at Grand Floridian just to warm up.
