How To Enjoy Walt Disney World Without Going Into The Parks?

How to enjoy Walt Disney World? What if you do not want to go into any of the Disney theme or water parks at Walt Disney World? Can you still have a memorable, enjoyable experience? This is a such a common question by Disney luvin’ Seniors.

Back in September 2024 a long time member of the Disney for Seniors Facebook Group, Dee H., created a post that received over 200 comments. [NOTE: While the Facebook Group is private, this website is not; it is for any and all Disney luvin’ Seniors. Yet, because of that we won’t publish actual names in this article.]

Her post was titled: Let’s talk about ways to enjoy WDW without entering a park.

Here was the text of that post:

Friendship Boat on Crescent Lake

“Disney can be out of many seniors’ price range, but you can still have a magical day without entering a park. A fun way to enjoy some Disney magic is by using the complimentary Disney Transportation Service.

Let’s share our best tips for fun Disney adventures using the Buses, Skyliner, Monorail and Water Transportation. What are your best Disney Resort tips? Include the best places for a photo op: the must-eat snack or meal, a must-try beverage, and places to sit and enjoy a view. Feel free to include options for Disney Springs. Bonus points if you include how and which Disney Transportation to use. You can add a photo of your tip experience and comments on this post.

Remember, we are not visiting a park or staying at a resort; we are just enjoying the day.”

Here is That Collection of Ideas from Seniors For Seniors

What a fantastic post.

We put the post up with all the comments on how to enjoy Walt Disney World without going into the parks in one of the Guides areas within the Disney for Seniors Facebook Group. Yet, the reason we were asked to create this companion website was because Facebook is not the best for storing useful discussions and materials.

We wanted to create this article for seniors and friends of seniors who want to go to Walt Disney World but spend time outside of the theme parks.

Geyser Point Grill at Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort

This is an organized summary of subjectively the best suggestions contributed by the members of the Disney for Seniors online community.

Please, if you have additional ideas which could be useful for other seniors please add them in the comments below.

Thank you, Dee, for a fantastic idea. There’s nothing better than Disney luvin’ seniors helping other Disney luvin’ seniors with their experience at Disney Parks, Resorts or Cruises.

Enjoy Walt Disney World Resort Hopping

During holidays ( Christmas, Easter, Halloween) Resort Hop to view all decorations . Maybe grab a special holiday snack at the same time. [NOTE: Using the various Disney transportation options at Walt Disney World makes this very possible indeed.]

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa Christmas Holidays' Gingerbread House
  • One of the most fun days a group of my friends and I had was going resort-hopping during the Christmas season to see the Gingerbread houses. We started with Brunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe and admired the adorable life-sized gingerbread cottage there; rode the monorail to the Contemporary to see their gingerbread “castle”…had hot chocolate in the lobby at Wilderness Lodge; then drove to the Beach Club to see the beautiful Gingerbread and chocolate carousel. We had reservations to have a light dinner at Beaches and Cream there. It was a busy and FUN day! We laughed a lot and got some great photos without even going to the parks!
  • One of my favorites is to do a resort loop. Either a beverage, snack or photos. I like to park at TTC, walk to Polynesian, walk to Grand Floridian (but this walkway might be closed right now) walk to MK, boat to WL, boat to Contemporary, monorail to TTC.
  • You can park for free at Disney Springs and catch a bus to your starting point. The key to this is flexibility and time management. It could take around 25 minutes to get to your starting point, and you need to know when the last bus runs back to Disney Springs.
  • We were visiting the area a few weeks ago and I wanted a little Disney, so we went to Disney Springs. It wasn’t crowded during the day, and we visited lots of shops, then headed to the ferry and enjoyed the view of the various resorts. We then stopped for lunch and headed back. It was a nice day.
